Dieting And Exercise

Most people will tell you that diet with exercise is futile and this is true to a large extent. If you are going to diet, you need to also exercise, even if it means just taking a short, brisk walk in the beginning.

There are so many diet books available in the market, each one advocating their theory of a successful weight-loss diet. It is natural for people who are overweight to want to lose this excessive weight as quickly as possible. However, this is not always possible, nor is it safe. The reason that most diets fail is because people go on starvation diets in an attempt to lose weight and they also lose a lot of energy. They get weak, their immune system weakens and they get sick.

People who do not have enough protein lose energy and are too weak to exercise. Eventually, the diet fails. In order to lose weight, you must combine a diet with exercise.

The amount of calories you consume will depend on your metabolism and the amount of exercise you plan on doing. Planning on counting your calories in order to lose weight is a good idea, but make sure the calories you ingest are the "right" calories. The first thing you need to do when it comes to eating and exercise is to eliminate "empty" calories.

Empty calories are often contained in simple carbohydrates such as cakes, cookies, candy and soda pop. Simple carbohydrates offer little or no nutritional value, are absorbed quickly into your system and turn to fat. They are a waste of calories.

A few years ago, people were on the low or no carbohydrate diet. People were consuming massive amounts of protein and eliminating carbohydrates from their diet, including vegetables and fruit. This was supposed to allow you to "lose weight quickly."

No doctor on earth will tell you to eliminate vegetables and fruit from your diet. Most doctors want you to eat fruit and vegetables as they contain antioxidants and vitamins that we need in our daily diet. This diet fad was relatively short lived.

Many people when they want to lose weight cut their fat intake. This is a smart idea, particularly if you eat a lot of fast foods. Fast foods often contain a lot of saturated fat and although we need a bit of fat to live, eliminating fast foods and fried foods from your diet can actually promote weight loss quickly.

You can eat what you want and lose weight if you follow this one bit of advice: Eat until you are no longer hungry instead of eating until you are full. Eat your normal meal and cut your portions in half. You have to cut your calorie intake if you are going to lose weight.

This is not all there is to do when it comes to eating and exercise to lose weight. Exercise plays a big part in losing weight. You have to do cardio vascular exercises to promote weight loss as well as toning exercises to build muscle and lose fat. If you are obese, it may be difficult and even dangerous to start a strong cardio exercise program, but you can still walk. Exercise is crucial to lose weight.

By using a sensible combination of eating properly by eliminating simple carbohydrates, cutting calorie intake and exercising, you are sure to lose weight.
